Gefahrgut-Informationssystem (GEGIS) /
Transport Emergency Card (Tremcard) Service

GEGIS stands for Gefahrgut-Informationssytem, which can be translated to dangerous goods information system.

Increased transport safety for dangerous goods

Personal and environmental safety are absolutely central today. Safe handling of dangerous goods must be insured beyond national boundaries, particularly in the case of transport of dangerous goods.
It is essential in this regard to know exactly where which hazardous material is located, with which other materials it comes in contact, or which other materials it may under no circumstances come into contact with, and what course of action should be taken in case of accidents.

The GEGIS dangerous goods information system has been especially developed for dangerous goods transport safety. In Hamburg GEGIS has been implemented with a registration requirement for all movements of dangerous goods in the Hamburg Harbour. The reason for it are clearly obvious:
GEGIS offers ...

seamless monitoring and documentation of all movements of

dangerous goods to the harbour area, within the harbour area

  und from the harbour area.

  Internationally usable Internet applications

  Comprehensive databases

With regulatory requirements and materials databases

There are a host of regulations and specifics to consider when handling hazardous substances.
In this regard it is particularly important for companies in the transport industry as well as for safety authorities (water protection officials, fire department etc.) to recognize hazard sources in advance and to know how to proceed in case of possible incidents. This is why GEGIS offers easy access to the following databases:

Comprehensive current regulatory requirements for the transport modes sea, road, rail and barge with all

essential information about dangerous goods transport and transshipment like classification, labeling,

  substance characteristics and packaging regulations.

Detailed substance data for a realistic estimate of hazards and accidental risks is combined with data on
first aid measures as well as comprehensive information and help for damage control if required.

Well stored and securely segregated

GEGIS not only increases the safety of dangerous goods transport but it also enables effective stowage and segregation for container loading.
Aided by GEGIS with graphic support you can check which hazardous substances may be placed together, or determine if segregation requirements apply and if so which ones are appplicable. These stowage and segregation regulations for ocean transport can also be called up separately.

Be sure : Minimize the risk and decide for a dependable IT system: GEGIS - the safe route for hazardous goods transport.
