Registration
Since 1997 Hamburg's Port Safety Regulations require that all companies involved in handling of
dangerous goods (liner agents/ship owners/quay operators) must report all movements of dangerous
goods electronically to GEGIS. They also must comply with the HAZMAT regulation (EU Directive 93/75/EEC),
which stipulates that all registrations must be forwarded to the Federal Registration Center in Cuxhaven.
Both regulations are harmonized, i.e. the registration with GEGIS automatically registers the movement
in Cuxhaven.
