Preface

Starting JGegis by DAKOSY AppStart

To start the application on a Windows platform DAKOSY AppStart is required, which is available here for free.

More detailed directions for use are provided under the menu item Starting JGegis by DAKOSY AppStart.

If you use GEGIS on another operating system (e.g. MacOS from Apple) we recommend that you switch to a Windows platform as soon as possible as we cannot guarantee that the operation of GEGIS is still possible in the future on other operating systems.

Starting JGegis by Java Web Start

Java 1.8 is necessary to start the application. These Java Runtime Environments include the required distribution/update mechanism "Java Web Start".

According to an announcement by Oracle, "Java Web Start" will no longer be part of Java Version 11.

We would also like to point out that the license model for Java has changed:

All JAVA versions published by Oracle from February 2019 onwards are no longer free of charge for companies.

More detailed directions for use are provided under the menu item Starting JGegis by Java Web Start.

If you have installed not any or an incompatible Java version, please install or rather update the "Java Runtime Environment".
